Quarterly Pulse Survey: member insights and actions

How your feedback is shaping APCO’s work

APCO has introduced a Quarterly Pulse Survey to create a more regular feedback loop with Brand Owner members.

The survey gives members a direct way to share what they are experiencing, where they need support, and how APCO can improve the way we work with industry through a changing packaging reform environment.

Unlike a once-a-year survey, the Quarterly Pulse Survey gives APCO timely insight throughout the year. It helps us identify emerging issues earlier, track changes in member sentiment and readiness, and adjust our support, communication and engagement as member needs change.

This page will be updated each quarter to share what we have heard, what we are learning, and how APCO is responding.

Latest insights from members

Thank you to the members who took part in APCO’s first Quarterly Pulse Survey.

This first survey round gives APCO an initial baseline of member sentiment, experience and readiness. It shows that members recognise APCO’s role and intent, while also identifying where APCO can provide greater value.

The strongest message from members was the need for clarity, usability and delivery.

Members told us they want

Clearer, more practical guidance

Businesses are looking for support that helps them make decisions with greater confidence, particularly in relation to reporting, the Australasian Recycling Label, Extended Producer Responsibility readiness and changing regulatory expectations.

Tools and resources that are easier to apply

Guidance needs to be practical, usable and connected to the decisions businesses need to make now.

Greater visibility of APCO’s advocacy and progress

There is a clear appetite for better visibility of what APCO is saying to government, what is changing across the system, and how member feedback is informing APCO’s work.

More targeted engagement

Engagement is most valuable when it is purposeful, practical and connected to outcomes. The feedback was clear: value comes from focused engagement that helps businesses solve issues, prepare for change and share practical insights.

Support to prepare for reform with confidence

While there is broad understanding of the direction of packaging reform, many businesses are seeking clearer pathways, better sequencing and more certainty before making major decisions.

How APCO is responding

APCO is using this feedback to sharpen how we support members and communicate our work.

Our immediate focus is on:

The quarterly format gives APCO the opportunity to listen, respond and adjust throughout the year. It also helps us test whether our actions are making a difference and focus effort where it will have the greatest impact.

Member feedback does not sit in a report. It helps shape what APCO does next.

The next survey round is coming this week

APCO’s next Quarterly Pulse Survey will be sent this week to a selected group of 600 Brand Owner members. If you receive the survey, we encourage you to take part.

Your response will help APCO understand what is changing for members now, where support is most needed, and how we can continue to improve throughout the year.

The stronger the participation, the stronger the evidence base. That helps APCO advocate more effectively, plan more confidently and provide support that reflects the real challenges facing Brand Owners.

If the Quarterly Pulse Survey lands in your inbox this week, please take the opportunity to have your say. Your feedback is heard, and it helps shape APCO’s work.
