Quarterly Pulse Survey: member insights and actions

How your feedback is shaping APCO’s work

APCO has introduced a Quarterly Pulse Survey to create a more regular feedback loop with Brand Owner members.

The survey gives members a direct way to share what they are experiencing, where they need support, and how APCO can improve the way we work with industry through a changing packaging reform environment.

Unlike a once-a-year survey, the Quarterly Pulse Survey gives APCO timely insight throughout the year. It helps us identify emerging issues earlier, track changes in member sentiment and readiness, and adjust our support, communication and engagement as member needs change.

This page will be updated each quarter to share what we have heard, what we are learning, and how APCO is responding.

Latest insights from members

Thank you to the Members who took part in APCO’s second Quarterly Pulse Survey.  Every piece of input helps build a strong base of evidence for APCO to act on and meet Members’ needs right where you tell us.

The latest results indicate where some activities have landed well, such as some refinements to our communication approach.  They also show that while Members recognise APCO’s role and intent, there are areas of improvement where APCO can provide even greater value.

Most consistently, the key message from Members is the need for clarity, usability and delivery.  These have been strong themes from each QPS round, and gives APCO clear insight on how we can enhance support to meet Members’ needs.

What your feedback tells us:

Members need clearer, more practical guidance

Businesses are looking for support that helps them make decisions with greater confidence, particularly in relation to reporting, the Australasian Recycling Label, Extended Producer Responsibility readiness, and shifting regulatory expectations.

Tools and resources should be easier to apply

Guidance needs to be practical, simple  and connected to the decisions businesses need to make now.

APCO’s advocacy and progress needs to be more visible

There is a clear appetite for better visibility of what APCO is saying to government, what is changing across the system, and how Member feedback informs APCO’s work.

Targeted engagement makes a big difference

Engagement is most valuable when it is purposeful, practical and leads to outcomes. The feedback was clear: value comes from focused engagement that helps businesses solve issues, prepare for change and share pragmatic insights.

Supporting Members to prepare for reform is paramount

While there is broad understanding of the direction of packaging reform, details can be obscure. Many businesses need a clearer sightline on pathways, better sequencing and greater certainty before making major decisions.

How APCO is responding

APCO is using this feedback to optimise how we support members and communicate our work.

Our immediate focus is on:

The quarterly format gives APCO the opportunity to listen, respond and adjust throughout the year. It also allows us to test whether our actions are making a meaningful difference and focus effort where it will have the greatest impact.

Member feedback is not a reporting exercise. It helps shape what APCO does next.

The next survey round is coming this week  - check your inboxes

APCO’s next Quarterly Pulse Survey will be sent this week to a sample group of around 600 Members.  Please keep an eye out and, if you receive the survey, we encourage you to take part.

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete and responses are strictly confidential.

Your response will help APCO understand what is changing for members now, where support is most needed, and how we can continue to provide support that reflects the real challenges facing Brand Owners.

If the Quarterly Pulse Survey lands in your inbox this week, please take the opportunity to have your say. Your feedback is heard, and it helps shape APCO’s work.
