The Australasian Recycling Label Program for Small-to-Medium Enterprises

The SME ARL Campaign is a new program designed to support small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to make the switch to using the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL).

The SME ARL Campaign aims to raise awareness among SMEs about the benefits of adopting the ARL on their packaging. Through the campaign, APCO aims to grow the community of hundreds of businesses who are already providing accurate recycling information to Australian consumers.

The campaign will be delivered in close partnership with the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), the National Retail Association (NRA) and the Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC). The project received grant funding from the Australian Government, to support SMEs improve the sustainability of their packaging and to adopt the ARL on their packaging.

ARL Marketplace

One of the core features of the campaign is the ARL Marketplace – a dedicated educational platform to provide SMEs with the information they need to start using the ARL on their packaging. Throughout 2022, the ARL Marketplace will be home to a range of free sustainable packaging tools and resources to help SMEs build more sustainable packaging practices into their businesses.

From 2023, the ARL Marketplace will also offer a new and convenient way for SMEs to source packaging that is ready to label with the ARL. When an SME visits the ARL Marketplace, they will be able to select from a range of ready-to-label packaging formats from participating vendors and suppliers.
