Making APCO Reporting Easier with GS1
Tuesday 26 November 2024
APCO and GS1 are in a partnership to simplify APCO Annual Reporting for Members.
GS1, a not-for-profit global organisation, is dedicated to developing and maintaining standards for barcodes, with the mission of creating the most trusted and widely used standards in the supply chain. As a recognised partner in industry digital transformation, traceability, and sustainability, GS1 works closely with industries and governments worldwide to drive innovation.
What is the National Product Catalogue (NPC)?
The GS1 National Product Catalogue (NPC) is a service by GS1 Australia, providing brand owners a real-time platform to maintain and share product data with trading partners. Serving over 2,280 companies, the NPC supports the need for standardised, supplier-managed data across the supply chain, making data exchange seamless for both GS1 members and non-members.
Through a collaboration with APCO, GS1 Australia has added packaging-specific data attributes to the NPC, enabling APCO members to capture data on packaging materials linked to their Global Trade Identification Numbers. This enhancement aims to improve data accuracy, streamline reporting, and reduce data duplication.
Supporting APCO Members with ARL Reporting
In 2023, new packaging data attributes were introduced into the NPC specifically to support ARL Annual Reporting. Starting November 2023, APCO will map all data captured in the National Packaging Catalogue to align with requirements for:
· ARL Annual Report
· Covenant Annual Report
· Version 1: Full Framework
· Version 2: SMEs
· Version 3: Packaging Manufacturers & Suppliers (PMS)
These updates are designed to simplify reporting, ensuring APCO members have the tools and resources they need for compliance and accuracy in their reporting.
